DAILY ARCHIVE

2022
Gujung Art Center, Onyang Folk Museum, Asan, South Korea

Daily archive represents Wona Bae and Charlie Lawler’s first museum presentation in South Korea. Created in response to their artist in residence at Onyang Folk Museum over the summer of 2022. Interested in the ritual of the everyday experience, their practice probes the periphery of the natural and cultural landscape.

Bae and Lawler engage a systematic approach to documenting the world around them. Creating an archive of patterns and systems, they collect fragments of daily observations through photography, video and notes of natural phenomena and human experience.

Drawing on these archives, the museum collection and their unique visual language, in this exhibition the pair presents a series of site specific installations, sculpture, video and photography works characterised through abstraction, distortion and repetition as expressive manifestations of their shared experience.
